My Nonna (Grandmother) came from Calabria, Italy to Melbourne after the War WW2 for a better life. She lived, loved and worked in a foreign land with her husband and ten children to build a future. From this I learned the value of simplicity and it is my aim to always find the simple solutions in work and life. I was fortunate enough to be born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, a city that shows no mercy and holds no illusions (except during carnival when it’s all about masquerading reality). Growing up there allowed me to witness the worst and the best of our species. I have travelled extensively to understand the illusions that entrap, limit and at the same time define us as early 21st century humans, and hopefully my work portraits a little bit of that. I have to admit I am a little bit embarrassed about being human but I am also hopeful: I am one of those romantic people who still believes in mankind. I believe that we can redeem ourselves, and start living with respect and dignity regardless of race, nationality or any other imposed separation. My mission is to help us achieve emancipation by changing the way people see the world and their relationship with others. Photography just happened to be they way I chose to achieve that. Although I pay my bills with commercial photography & videography work, my true passion is in social documentary and at the moment I am working on transitioning to being a full time social documentarist. I am also very grateful to be alive in such decisive times and I love meeting and working with people and organizations that are also working towards the same goals. She is passionate about the use of photography as a tool for awareness and change, whether this be through documentary projects or staged narratives. With a background in both photography and international development, she has the necessary tools to convey accurate and impactful stories. My name is Todd Henry. I was born in the United States but I have lived in New Zealand for over a decade. I enjoy taking documentary style photos that serve as accurate representations of a people or a place. My academic background in anthropology informs my approach to photography and gives me a unique perspective on the world. I love travelling and I have a special affinity for the people and cultures that are found in the South Pacific regions of Polynesia and Melanesia.

My name is Jared Buckley and I am a 27 year old New Zealander who has a passion for using both my photography and videography skills to bring about positive change. I am currently based in New Zealand but am heading to both South East Asia and Europe in the second half of 2019. I am a visual storyteller and am interested in working with any NGOs that need there stories told.

My name is Karen Abplanalp, born in Switzerland and raised in New Zealand. I am a multi-award winning photojournalist who travelled to West Papua in 2016 - the first TV crew to visit the Indonesian ruled Melanesian region in 50 years. Trained as a fashion photographer, I followed my passion for people and social justice, leading to the publication of stories from; Timor Leste, Solomon Islands, Indonesia, Belgium, UK, New Zealand, India, Fiji, West Papua and Samoa. Stories include; Following a women’s theatre group, Stages of Change, who use theatre to reduce violence against women and children in the Solomon Islands. A multi-award winning investigation into the world's largest gold mine in West Papua amid allegations of human rights violations and severe environmental damage. I have worked on projects for the British Council, European Union, UNICEF along with many small, grassroots organisations. I am Artur and I live in beautiful Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland. I was born in Brazil and grew up photographing, drawing, painting and doing everything with a flavour visual arts I could get my hands on. I photograph because I love it – it is that simple. I am a visual storyteller and specialise in NGO, development and wedding photography. When I am not photographing people who are making the world a better place or beautiful brides and grooms on their special day, I can be found strolling around Auckland, phone in hand, looking for ‘the’ perfect composition or just shooting silly things that look pretty.

Ehsan Hazaveh is an Iranian independent photographer based in Wellington, New Zealand. He has been focusing on social, environmental, and political issues. He started working as a newspaper photographer in 2011 at the Iranian Labour News Agency. In 2012, he began working on personal projects, on subjects such as people living in remote environments and displaced people. He has been awarded the “Young Talent of Social Documentary Photography” two times from the Sheed Award in 2012 and 2013. Ehsan studied Master of Graphic Design at the University of Tehran. He is doing a PhD in Media Studies at Victoria University of Wellington.
